Berta Llonch
Cádiz, 1983
Berta Llonch is a visual artist who lives and works in Madrid. She holds a degree in Fine Arts and works primarily with watercolor, a medium through which she has developed a distinctive language based on freedom of gesture, color, and respect for materials. Water is a fundamental element in her creative process, both technically and conceptually, allowing her to build intuitive and singular images without preliminary drawing, where each work emerges through stains, light, and movement.
Her work revolves around the ocean and marine imagery, an imaginary deeply connected to her personal biography. Having grown up by the sea, she translates memories and lived experiences into painting, creating a parallel world of currents, fish, and underwater spaces. Watercolor, with its liquid and unpredictable nature, reinforces this intimate relationship with water, enabling her to work in both small and large formats and to approach painting as a living, spontaneous process.
Since 2013, she has combined painting with illustration, publishing her first illustrated book, Mopi, followed by From the Chrysalis. Her work has been exhibited in galleries, museums, and national and international art fairs, including her solo exhibition Liquid State Constructions at the Casa de Iberoamérica in Cádiz and her participation in events such as the Affordable Art Fair in London. In 2025, she participated in the art fair ESTAMPA with Álvaro Alcázar Arte. She currently works from her studio in Madrid, where she continues to develop her personal practice alongside editorial and exhibition projects linked to her ocean-based creative universe.
