Juan Garaizabal is a versatile artist who has explored various mediums including drawing, video art, and installations involving light and sound. However, he is particularly renowned on the global stage for his monumental public sculptures. Among his notable works are the “Urban Memories” (Memorias Urbanas) series, wherein he revitalizes sculptural forms and captures the luminance of architectural elements that have vanished, thus filling historically significant urban voids.

Garaizabal actively engages in crafting a significant portion of his pieces, employing techniques such as iron and steel forging, lighting, carpentry, masonry, and the use of plastic materials. Since 2008, he has operated his primary studio in Berlin, and he also maintains studios in Madrid and Miami.
