Although initially drawn to portraiture, a fortuitous turn led him into the captivating world of fashion photography, where light became his key means of expression — especially when capturing the female form. It was then that he began working for major brands and publications.

At the same time, he started using his phone in daily life. Through this new way of taking photographs across different cities, he managed to find a distinctive style — not only visually, but also in the way he communicates with the viewer. By doing so, he invites each viewer to complete their own interpretation of the images. Driven by this approach, he switched equipment, experimented far from the comfort of the urban environment, and continued using his mobile phone for specific projects.

In 2015, Sergio de Luz became the first Spanish photographer to exhibit a complete series in New York City, created exclusively with a mobile phone.
